Title: MM2 Themes
Post by: Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth on December 07, 2014, 12:23:28 PM
What do you think will be the themes of MM2? MM was highly tribal, so I don't think we will get that again. I'm hoping for some cool stuff like RW equipment matters, and some ramp strategy for the Eldrazi.

Tough to say without knowing really any cards but Emrakul. It's safe to bet that if he's there, though, there has to either be enough ramp to cast him or ways to "cheat" him in, like {Summoning Trap} and stuff.

I'm hoping for some of the more fun multicolor play in this one. Alara is included in this one, which opens the doors for some real fun multicolor themes of the shards.

{Elvish Piper} And maybe that artifact that does the same thing

{Etched Champion} is also confirmed, so metalcraft is likely to be a theme. (Also i can't imagine {Mox Opal} not being printed)

Yeah this thread is more "what are you hoping for" than "what are the confirmed themes."

Metal craft

Excessive ramp to big OP creatures

Reanimate

Prowess and Kinship
(Played a MT draft, that's stuff is fun)

I have a feeling we might see {Slippery Bogle} and a few of the powerful auras for the hexproof deck.

I'm curious to see what kind of removal we'll see in the set. There was already path in the first MM, so what will we get this time? I'm hoping for {Terminate} and {Maelstrom Pulse}, myself. I could use more copies of them.

Both of those seem cool. Hoping for {Daybreak Coronet}, {Horizon Canopy} and {Kor Spiritdancer}. As for as removal, it seems {Path to Exile} will return because WoTC is constantly reprinting it, {Dismember} is likely, {Lightning Bolt} should appear, maybe {Go for the Throat}.

maelstrom pulse was in MM1...

Was it? Lol I guess I just never saw one. Damn.

Speaking of Horizon Canopy, I'm really hoping for the other good future sight land, {Grove of the Burnwillows}. Kiki-jiki might have been in MM1, but my deck still needs those groves to be truly complete :P

The future sight lands would be very cool to include. I can see enchantment/Bogles stuff and artifact theme with some affinity staples again. I think we will het all/most of the phyrexian mana symbol cards since they can't go in regular sets.

It's going to be all over the place again like MMA but I'm hoping for more overall value, not chase mythics if I'm shelling out 10$ per pack (realistically 15$ish maybe?).

We can only hope.

Makes me wonder what the mythics will be like in the set. Obviously Emrakul is one, but last time we had Bob and Goyf for some absurd value possibilities. What do you think will be at the very top end of the set's value?

Foil Goyf. He will be back in here, WoTC isn't afraid of devaluing him because last time they accidentally doubled his price.

Maybe lands?
With the option to only include the allied fetches is khans they could reprint the 5 enemy fetched is MM2. Also  {Grove of the Burnwillows}, filter lands, man lands and fast lands?

Impossible since the basic land spot is replaced with a foil

Unless they make mythic full art lands only available in foil. Average is 1 per 20 CASES

4 different lands for each color

OMG, those could be more expensive than the Guru lands if they made them.
