Recently when opening a booster pack, I found a Hardened Scales. It's an enchantment and a rare, but I am confused on its ability.
It reads:
If one or more +1/+1 counters would be placed on a creature you control, that many plus one +1/+1 counters are to be placed on it instead.
Could someone explain what this means and when to use it?
Thanks
{Hardened Scales} lets say you use the Outlast ability of {Disowned Ancestor}, it would get a +1/+1 counter from outlast and an extra +1/+1 counter because of Hardened Scales. If you had a card that gave your creature 3 +1/+1 counters, it would get 3 counters, plus the one extra from Hardened Scales
It works really well with heroic tiggers. I have a GW budget deck that runs on this.

{Animar, Soul of Elements}, need I say more?
Guys, this is the help section, not the combo section ;)
And giving examples as to where it is useful?
