Title: I Can't Play Draw Go :(
Post by: Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth on November 25, 2014, 06:24:09 PM
I have been out for a while and when I came back, my UB Control got ran over by aggro. I could tweak it, but it seems my meta is so infested with aggro, I'm better off switch decks so here is my idea:

Instant (26)

    2x {AEtherspouts}
    4x {Dig Through Time}
    4x {Dissolve}
    4x {Lightning Strike}
    4x {Magma Jet}
    2x {Mindswipe}
    2x {Negate}
    2x {Master the Way}
    2x {Arc Lightning}

Creature (4)

    1x {Keranos, God of Storms}
    1x {Pearl Lake Ancient}
    2x {Prognostic Sphinx}

Land (26)

    5x {Island}
    5x {Mountain}
    4x {Radiant Fountain}
    4x {Shivan Reef}
    4x {Swiftwater Cliffs}
    4x {Temple of Epiphany}

Sorcery (4)

    4x {Anger of the Gods}

Sideboard (15)

    4x {Goblin Rabblemaster}
    3x {Jeskai Windscout}
    4x {Monastery Swiftspear}
    4x {Scouring Sands}

My original idea was a {Treasure Cruise} burn deck with mainboard {Anger of the Gods}, but I'm not sure that is the way to go (still going to test it though). This is untested, so expect updates. The basic idea is to play a Counter-burn deck game 1 and depending on the match-up, switch into a UR Prowess/Aggro/Burn deck Games 2 and 3. I think I will get a lot of Game 1s because of the versatility and 2s because the transformation will through my opponent's sideboard plan out of the window. Another cool thing: I can bring in {Scouring Sands} whether I transform or not, because the most I can lose is Rabblemaster tokens, so I can easily race and board-wipe my aggro opponents (theoretically). Any feedback and testing is appreciated :)

Threw goldfishing, I think Keranos might be better at a 2 or 3 of, because he is good whether I switch or not.

I think the switch would look something like this:

-4 {Anger of the Gods}
-1 {Pearl Lake Ancient}
-4 {Swiftwater Cliffs}
-2 {Mindswipe}

+4 {Goblin Rabblemaster}
+4 {Monastery Swiftspear}
+3 {Jeskai Windscout}

and if I decided to bring in {Scouring Sands} (such as against Mardu Tokens or Black Aggro), I'd go:
-4 {Lightning Strike}

+4 {Scouring Sands}

because Lightning Strike is very mana inefficient when killing 2/1s for 1 and {Hordeling Outburst} tokens.

It is bad in the maindeck, but really powerful in the post-board deck. Also, it's needed to take down {Courser of Kruphix} and {Butcher of the Horde}. Any suggestions to replace it though?

{Riddle of Lightning} is cute, but I don't know that I can get it to work all the time, also it forces me to manipulate sub-optimally to maximize damage, lastly it doesn't play as well with the post-board. I might try it though, maybe a 2-2 split with Stoke.

{Howl of the Horde} might be too slow and janky for my meta, I wasn't exaggerating when I said 90% aggro.

{Polymorphist's Jest} would be best suited if I added {Circle of Flame}, which could work, but I think it would force too big of a departure from the deck's plan, although if this deck hits the fan, it will definitely be an idea for a real UR control deck.

What do you guys think about {Master the Way} instead of {Stoke the Flames}?

I think {Master the Way} is kind of garbage. How has it been in play testing?
