Title: Ixidron
Post by: An Angry Fatman on November 16, 2014, 06:42:03 PM
<ixidron> enters the battlefield and flips my commander. <jor Kadeen, the prevailer> . Does the face down cards still count as artifacts? And do abilities activate of the face down cards? And if my general dies, does he go back to general spot?

note that you can only send your commander to the command zone as a replacement for going to the graveyard from anywhere and from going to exile from anywhere. if your commander is tucked with {hinder} to the bottom of your library, you cant repace that with sending it to the command zome. if an opponent {remand}s your commander, itll go back to your hand and you cant replace that to the command zone either.

"If a Commander would be put into a graveyard or exile from anywhere, its owner may choose to move it to the command zone."

Unless it's the French Rules. If your Commander, under that format, leaves the battlefield for any reason, can be returned to the Command Zone.

Slight correction - in French, you can replace it if it would go to Library, Exile or Graveyard.  If it gets bounced, it still goes.  However, if someone bounces your commander and then plays something like {Winds of Change}, you can reveal your commander and place it back in the command zone.

Further correction...

903.11. If a commander would be put into its owner's graveyard from anywhere, that player may put it into the command zone instead.

903.12. If a commander would be put into the exile zone from anywhere, its owner may put it into the command zone instead.

There is no rule that I am aware of that prevents your commander from being shuffled into its owners library {chaos warp}, or bounced to hand and {winds of change}d into the library.

In French 1v1.

Rules
Duel Commander follows the exact same rules as classic multiplayer Commander, except for the following.
First, players start the game with 30 life.
Second, in addition to the ability to put the Commander back into the Command Zone if it would go to the graveyard or be exiled, you may do so also if it would be put into your library.
Third, new cards are legal on release day (Friday following the pre-release).
Finally, there is a specific banlist.
