I frickin hate people who don't know how to play this card. It can also tap all of your opponents creatures or bounce a permanent! FRICKIN USE THOSE IF NEEDED! If you only want to counter/draw just use {dismiss} or whatever it is that costs 2UU counter target spell draw a card.
I was playing against scapeshift and had a {witchbane orb} out. My opponent {dig through time}ed twice. I said "digging for a cryptic?" End of game he said he had it in hand but didn't see it until I mentioned it. These things happen all the time! I have watched grand prix top 8's where the best play for cryptic was probably tap everything and bounce a permanent, but no... Cryptic counters a spell while giving you card advantage...

One could argue that those are the best two modes and should be used in tandem. Of course there will be a situation for all the modes, but I find myself using the counter and draw modes more often than the other two. It depends on the matchup you are in as to what modes you can expect to use the most.

No, promotional products only effect EDH and Legacy. Modern gets cards from actual core set/block releases.

Yea I really don't understand why they thought textless cryptic commands were a good idea. Either way, they were a must have for me to own lol just for that reason.
