I mean, the whole Zendikar block was pretty powerful and only a couple cards are banned...
They're banning all lands, too, because they make casting spells too easy.

yea im pretty sure {rotting mastodon} isnt broken in any format. wizards may ban a few cards, but they wouldnt just ban an entire set.

Makes for a easy turn 2-4 win in standard. In modern it's evil
Ascendancy can win Turn 2 but 0 decks run that version. Typically Ascendancy in standard wins T4 or 5 with a rare T3 kill.
In modern (currently) it's a consistent T3 win
