Title: Blue black green control
Post by: Alec Garst on October 24, 2014, 04:44:30 PM
so I have some idea of what to do for the deck but I am posting for any card suggestions. I was planning on big creatures with reoccurrence such as {meandering towershell}, {pearl lake accent} and so forth. Need ideas and help!

I recommend {Ashiok, Nightmare Weaver} and plenty of spot removal like {Bile Blight} and {Hero's Downfall}. {Sultai Charm} is really good too. And maybe if you're adventurous, you could play 1 or 2 {Villainous Wealth} as win cons. That's what i would do.

I made a pretty fun {Villainous Wealth}/ramp deck. It's not very controlly but it's certainly fun. I can post it if you're interested.

not {meandering towershell}. {earl lake ancienct} is a good enough finisher imo. maybe {kiora, the crashing wave}?

{Pearl Lake Anchient} > {Meandering Townshell}.

There's actually a deck around {End Hostilities} and {Meandering Townshell} that isn't terrible. But that's a different story.

How does the towershell read. Each turn it exiles or every other turn when you tap it to attack

whenever you declare durdle turtle {meandering towershell} as an attacker, an abilty will trigger causing it to be exiled. it will come back on your next turn, tapped and attacking when you go to declare attackers. it will only get exiled if you go to attack with it. so it is an ok blocker.

Eh. Too much mana even with delve unless you go {Sidisi, Brood Tyrant} and stuff crazy but even still.

What about {Garruck, Apex Predator}

If you can ramp into him, hell yeah.

Well I mean not truly ramp into him but the game should drag out to where I can cast him. Powerful and control the only mana helper would be caryatid

Well yes, {Garruk, Apex Predator} left unchecked will kill your opponent. It's a great card if you can cast it and keep it from getting killed.

{Indulgent tormentor}. Good for card draw or control in a way. Play or no. At most a two of

{Thoughtseize} and {Despise} are amazing. Sultai control is weak against rabble decks. Both these help.

{Kiora the Crashing Wave}
{Dig Through Time}
{Hero's Downfall}
{Courser of Kruphix} <- so amazing in my Sultai Control
{Jace the Living Guildpact}
{Ashiok Nightmare Weaver}
{Garruk Apex Predator}
{Dissolve}
{Sultai Charm}
{Sylvan Caryatid}
Maybe {Thassa God of the Sea}? I'm not running her though

Just some thoughts. Sultai control is really damn strong. Just watch out for Rabble

Very similar to the cards that I play. Do you play {ulcerate}?  You wanna show me your deck list?

Sounds like my KTK bug walkers

Unfortunately life gain doesn't really happen until Garruk
So I feel like ulcerate is a dangerous commitment especially with jeskai existing

Would you suggest {treasure cruise} for card draw?

Cruise is good. I prefer Dig, but it's your choice. Running both can get dangerous sometimes though

Dig is better
Cast at end of turn, rather than sorcery speed.

No way akroan horse. Bad card is bad

Only an idea to keep a board presence to last longer for your win condition against aggro

Sylvan Carytid
Courser

Bile blight
Downfall

Very easy early defense right there

Downfall is a 4 of. I tried 3 & once I added my 4th (foil!) it was there when I needed it

Rakasha death dealers: forgot about him. These cats will save your life and end the game also, being able to swing for at least 2 (most people don't block or attack when you have open mana and death dealers)

Maybe if I can get my hands on him. He sounds good but my win condition is pearl lake ancient. I just need to draw the game out and stall  Which is why I'm asking y'all for ideas on how to best drag out the game
