(Most of you are probably familiar with the Zombie Hoard Deck and how it works. If you're not go look at Gorzo's in Wall Games for a brush up.)
So me and my Uncle were talking. I have a Zombie Hoard deck and we were thinking about how we could make it better/more fun. He was thinking that maybe there could be a Necromancer that has a library of cards and plays them (with some cards having different effects then printed on them) with his creatures coming out horde deck style.
For example, Necromancer's turn would look a little like this,
Untap.
Upkeep.
Draw.
1st main phase.
Combat.
Zombie summoning (flip and cast cards off the horde deck until he hits a non token creature)
2nd main phase.
Clean up.
Now for rules that would need changing and ideas I've cooked up for them,
I'm thinking the Necromancer would have ~100 health and get attacked normally. He'd also be able to block unlike the horde deck. If that turns into a mud hole then I'd purpose that only zombie tokens attack each turn if able. This would mean that the horde deck doesn't get milled for damage. Instead it'll get milled if it'd get milled. (So mill will be a viable but not OP option.) so the Necromancer would lose if,
The Necromancer's life total becomes 0 or less.
The Necromancer needs to draw a card and cannot.
The Necromancer's horde deck is depleted and he has no zombies on the field.
The Necromancer would win if,
The Survivors life total becomes 0 or less.
The Survivors life total becomes 0 or less.
Some cards that I'm thinking would be fun with "alternate" rules.
{Rooftop Storm}: the Necromancer summons zombies until he hits an additional non token creature.
{Ghoulflesh}: flip a coin, if tails the creature is now under the Necromancer's control. (Cause it turned that's why.)
I think that it'd be super fun. If I built a decent Necromancer deck. Thoughts? Suggestions?
I'd play against that.
