So, been very pleased with the card {Disdainful Stroke}. Been play testing with friends and they get so grumpy when their high drops are counter'd
Was curious though what are some better counter spells in standard?

Yes and no. Double blue can cause problems, as well as just being cmc of 3. But still. It does get the job done.
{Disdainful Stroke} has been really nice. I quite like its utility.
The other counter spells currently in standard are,
{Annul}: never used it. Too situational unless you're up against a ton of {Ensoul Artifact} or constellation decks.
{Swan Song}: I've never liked it.
{Stubborn Denial}: in the right deck, pure gold.
{Gainsay}: I can see it being a good sb option.
{Negate}: solid.
{Disdainful Stroke}: just told you about it.
{Thassa's Rebuff}: I played a mono blue devotion deck that did very well with it.
{Symeid Hopes}: absolutely terrible.
{Nullify}: a kinda better {Essence Scatter}. I don't personally use it at all.
{Trap Essence}: I haz one. Kinda useless. I mean {Essence Backlash} is way cooler. (And IMO better).
{Temur Charm}: utility.
{Dissolve}: the current best catch all.
{Dissipate}: can be relevant.
{Cancel}: everybody hates it but hey, it works.
{Statute of Denial}: terrible.
{Countermand}: situationally...still pretty bad.
Khans introduced a few but the keepers are {Disdainful Stroke} and {Stubborn Denial}.

Yes, but there are multiple decks were {Disdainful Stroke} only counters about 4 cards Jeskai Tempo and Abzan Aggro in particular. {Dissolve} is still the best in standard, {Disdainful Stroke} is better as a 2 of, or a sideboard card.
I really do need to get some negates at some point.

That's how it is. For the cards I want! Not one {Despise}, {Ride Down} or {Ruthless Ripper} cracked for this guy. No {Dissolve}. Not one.
