So today I found a sliver legion at a random hobby shop and the shopkeeper sold it to me for two bucks. It's worn around the edges but I still made some money.

Didn't happen to me. But a guy at my LGS won a bet with the owner and got a card. Traded that card for credit. Used that credit to get an M14 booster. Guess what he opened? The foil of what he traded for credit.
A friend of mine got to live the dream of finding an old box of cards at a yard sale for a few bucks. There were NM Revised Volcanic Island, Tundra and Scrubland in there. She kept the Scrub for her Kaalia deck, then sold the other two to buy a huge chunk of other things she needed.

Yea I showed my inlaws the back of magic cards and told them I will pay double for anything they buy at yard sales. This is every magic players dream.
Just be careful because I went to a flea market once and thought I hit gold but the people were just selling bulk commons from the card shop
Picked up 10 {Aven Mindcensor} last Christmas time for 25 cents each
I Lived the dream once. I bought an older box of cards from a kind gentleman. It contained 3 of all the original shock lands and a FOW. Sold all of it in a week
This was just when I started playing EDH and I hadn't really started playing Legacy or even modern
