my friend just opened a pack of Journey into Nyx and found 15 mythic rares inside!! Anybody encounter this before? I heard they did that only for this set very very rare.
Funny story, I bought him a liliana figure as a birthday present and a few packs for myself. Decided to throw in a few of those packs for him...turned out to be that one. "Oh wow, good for you!!"..... jerk....
These are known as god packs, and contain one of each god from the theros block. They are quite uncommon, but not as rare as, say, hidden treasures.
Sssssoooo what's a hidden treasure???

Hidden Treasures were from the very first print run of Zendikar. The packs (which were supposedly very rare) contained a "hidden treasure" in the rare slot, which happened to be a random rare from alpha. I personally don't believe in this popular fiction as I never saw it myself, but many do.
Do they still do that? Or was it just that one set?
Oh and thanks for moving the thread

Just zendikar. It fit with the theme of quests.

Dude, I would seriously die. As if zendikar needed help being an awesome set.
but note: i think it heavily believed by the mtg community that hidden treasure were only in the first print run of zendikar. something about a capital A at the beginning of the barcode. dont take my word for it though do your research before buying zendi boxes for hidden treasure.
Until wotc confirms it I think it's bs.

Please do I would love to be wrong. I have had this argument many times. The closest I seen was wotc would neither confirm or deny.

And that's all I found...,
There was a video of one of the workers confirming it but it was removed fast.
I'm pretty sure the best "confirmation" you can get is the rule that was added in secret when zendikar was released that in draft you can only use cards from the set that you are playing.
Edit:
To Further backup this rumor: The following RULES CHANGES ARE EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY:
Of interest to all WPN Organizers and DCI tournament players are the following changes to the Magic Tournament Rules. The following changes to Limited Events go in to effect immediately:
Section 7.3 — Card Use in Limited Tournaments
Other than basic land, only cards from the expansions of the boosters opened (and only cards opened in that player's pool) may be used in a player's deck. For example, in a Magic 2010 Sealed Deck tournament, any card in a booster other then the Magic 2010 game cards received by the player and basic land may not be used in a player's deck during that tournament.
Section 7.5 — Sealed Deck Swap
In Sealed Deck tournaments, the Head Judge may require players to perform a deck swap prior to deck construction. Players receive unopened product and register the contents (except basic land cards) on deck lists. Any card in a booster that is not a card from the expansion of the opened booster is retained by the player that registers the cards (example: a player that registers the contents of a booster during a deck swap keeps the token card, if any). Players who drop from the tournament before fulfilling this duty will receive a match loss in the first round. Tournament Officials then collect the recorded card pools and re-distribute them randomly. A player may randomly receive the product he or she registered. The Head Judge should require players to sort the cards they register according to some criteria (e.g. color and then alphabetically) to assist the player receiving the pool.
Hidden treasures were indeed a thing. You can find plenty of crack pack videos on YouTube showing people who opened on.
And according to dealers the only Zendikar you can be sure is First Run anymore and has a chance at a treasure is Fat Packs.

Watched a video of someone opening one of those.
I shut down my computer because I was so shocked.

Fat Packs indeed, not sure if someone was lying but a guy opened a fat pack and got a {Jace, the Mind Sculptor}. Probably took it out of his binder.
