If i have a 5/5 with lifelink and i attCk and my opponent blocks with a 1/1 , do i gain 1 life? Or 5?
Your 5/5 would deal a total of 5 damage, so you would gain 5 life.
Thanx bro
What? How does that work? Ruling?
whenever creatures deal combat damage, they deal damage equal to their power. they dont deal damage equal to the blocking creatures toughness. so if a 5/5 has lifelink, unless damage is prevented, the controller will
gain 5 life regardless of blocks.

Ruling, my playgroup demands it. Lifelink is broken if that's how it is.
119.2a (http://imtgapp.com/forum/index.php?action=imtg;area=rule;number=119.2a): Damage may be dealt as a result of combat. Each attacking and blocking creature deals combat damage equal to its power during the combat damage step.
A.K.A-There is no such thing as overkill.

If lifelink is so broken in your playgroup why isn't everyone running {Rain of Gore} or any other life gain prevention?

You're talking to the guy who bought {Erebos, God of the Dead} and made a life gain deck to beat them at their own game. Nobody else cares as much as I do (being as counterburn is my favourite deck). It's mainly that we play multiplayer so it's extremely hard to be competitive without life gain and keeping hate cards on the table isn't easy. (Damn you {erase} reprint). I'm working on a multiplayer mill deck and maybe that'll work.

you dont even need the bell. {mindcrank} and {duskmantle guildmage} goes infinite by just activating both abilities on the mage with crank out.
Actually you need 7 mana to do both and 2nd ability targets a player while The bell hits every player in multi player and you only need to pay 3 for the damage to start.
Right guys cause everyone wants to lose to an infinite combo and will totally play with me again. The plan is {Duskmantle Guildmage} and things like {Mind Grind}.
On that combo though, {Duskmabtle Guildmage} says each opponent for the first ability. Starting the mill with it is too expensive for multiplayer. {Ghoulcallers Bell} is the better option but not necessarily necessary.
Card Text:
1BlueBlack: Whenever a card is put into an opponent's graveyard from anywhere this turn, that player loses 1 life.
2BlueBlack: Target player puts the top two cards of his or her library into his or her graveyard.
The first ability effects everyone in the multi player game when it is payed just once. (You do not pay per player)
The 2nd ability you have to play per player.
