Post by: Vindog on September 29, 2014, 05:36:50 PM
How does  {Deflecting Palm} work ? So if my opponent attacks with 3 2/2 satyrs and I cast that do I prevent the damage and deal 6 ?

A source is from one card. Either sorcery, instant, or permanent. Even though they are the same named card, they are different sources, and that would only prevent one of them. So prevent 2, deal 2, take 4.

TO be more specific, a Source is a spell on the stack or a permanent on the battlefield.  We can't use 'card' to describe it, as copies of spells on the stack and tokens on the battlefield aren't cards.  That said, each spell or permanent is a separate source, even if it shares the same name as another permanent or spell.  If your opponent has three {Guttersnipe}s and you name one of them as your {Deflecting Palm} choice, the other two will still deal damage to you, as they are different sources.

{Deflecting Palm} really shines best in EDH. "Oh you pour infinite mana into any one of numerous x damage spells? I'll deflecting palm that back at you for the win."
