If you use the {Archive Trap} after your opponent finishes searching for a basic land with {Path to Exile}, yes.

Their searching is optional, so if they suspect you have a trap, they can choose not to search.

{Path to exile} is good control card.  It'd fit well in a u/w mill deck.  So, if he searches, he gets trapped.  If he doesn't search, he loses a critter, and doesn't get the land.  Win win right?

It depends. Late game, they might not care about the land. Just saying don't "broadcast" your trap. Like boxing. 👊 don't let them know you're going to hit them, just hit them. 😌
