Title: Imtg Name Changes
Post by: Noblellama on September 11, 2014, 10:23:36 AM
So as a rampant trader I find myself getting annoyed when a person changes names.

it is more than a "have I traded with this person before" feeling or a "Who the hell is _______?" and simply a "Why did person X change their name?"

I know people have their reasons but I have had a few trades in the past month or two that seemed on the edge of fishy with people I have not traded with suddenly changing their names and I didn't know it was someone who I had already formed an opinion about with their old name only to find that im suddenly in a trade with them...

Forum thoughts?

Ya who was that dumbass with the name #millsux that idiot doesn't even know how to spell sucks** lol :P

But I agree with King of the Sables. I don't trade often but from a chat guide it's nice to know that "oh Gorzo commented on this" or "ew Taybsy posted there ...."

(Shots fired Taysby :P)

Here's the risk with name change and trades:

It's to assume your trade credibility is 0 again when you keep doing new identities. No one knows who you are if your avatar changes constantly, you karma will also reflect it.

A great example is the anime guy. I have no idea who he is, he has no trade credibility in my book.

I know you trade often llama, but perhaps be more thorough with those you trade with? A name and address will remain the same even though a user name has changed.

Always double check untrusted traders and review the addresses and names.

You also have enough trade clout to request new users to send first. I usually do that with most of my newer trades, but spencer Addington I can send off a $15 trade with no hesitation, for $30+ trade, I get tracking

Exactly!

Don't trade with em :)

I mean when you reply like taysby and change your pic every month, no one knows who you are.

Identity changes are often a result of trolling behavior, trolling behavior can then reach a point to where the one exhibiting is nothing but a mere troll, not even a successful one at that

I encourage all users to read all posts and dig for information, this helps you "know" who you're trading with

Doing a trade over $15? Read up on the people, if they don't send first or want to middle man, don't do it.

Also llama: do you ever use a middle man?

Myself and other mods provide this free service; sure it takes longer to get your cards, but you get trade content confirmation & condition of cards.

For new users, they get a mod to ensure they won't get ripped off.

Also: double check private pages
Reverting to your original name DOES revert back to your original private page.

This well help keep notice for scammers who want to avoid their feedback on their private page

This is clearly targeted at me. Okay, I'm sorry. I won't trade with you if you hate it that much.

You're just the clearest example here of someone constantly changing their name

Mishra, we don't have any trades going currently so I'm not pointing at you (while I think muggy is mentioning you)
My beef is that is hard to track when someone changes their name
Ah, I guess as a fifth child I'm not so good at reading people.

isn't that what it's supposed to be?

My name reads as "Anubis".  It means "a noob ass".  I made it up and I liked it so much i use it online for all my names.
