Idk why this has been difficult for me to grasp. So I'm just gonna ask to erase any doubt in my mind.

You can make a creature hexproof in response to a kill spell thus making the kill spell have an invalid target and fizzle?

A ruling would be super but I trust you guys. Haha.

Here's how it works,

When you cast a spell it checks to make sure the target is legal.

When the spell resolves it checks to make sure the target is legal.

Example,
You have a {Bronze Sable}
Opponent casts {Shock}
You respond with {Ranger's Guile}

Stack goes {Ranger's Guile} then {Shock}.

{Ranger's Guile} resolves, {Bronze Sable} is hexproof.

{Shock} tries to resolve but the {Bronze Sable} is hexproof, so it fizzles.

I don't have the specific ruling, I just know the game really well. :P

608. Resolving Spells and Abilities
608.1. Each time all players pass in succession, the spell or ability on top of the stack resolves. (See rule 609, "Effects.")

608.2b If the spell or ability specifies targets, it checks whether the targets are still legal. A target that's no longer in the zone it was in when it was targeted is illegal. Other changes to the game state may cause a target to no longer be legal; for example, its characteristics may have changed or an effect may have changed the text of the spell. If the source of an ability has left the zone it was in, its last known information is used during this process. The spell or ability is countered if all its targets, for every instance of the word "target," are now illegal. If the spell or ability is not countered, it will resolve normally. However, if any of its targets are illegal, the part of the spell or ability's effect for which it is an illegal target can't perform any actions on that target, make another object or player perform any actions on that target, or make that target perform any actions. If the spell or ability creates a continuous effect that affects game rules (see rule 613.10), that effect doesn't apply to illegal targets. The effect may still determine information about illegal targets, though, and other parts of the effect for which those targets are not illegal may still affect them.

No switching. Targets are targets. Unless they have a card that does so. (Like {Wild Ricochet})

Even though they have the same name, the game treats them as different creatures. The name doesn't matter at all as far as targeting is concerned.

I knew that the name has nothing to do with it, I have some friends who always try and swith spell targets and in a 4 way game where they all try to I'm at the lost. I picked the sable because it's too broken and needs to die

Ah. I see. Well, without another spell that lets you switch targets, that's totally illegal.
