Does  {Kird Chieftain} get 1/1 for each chief in play??

It gets +1/+1 if you control a forest.

Not sure if this is a joke about it being a chieftain lord or something... anyway...

Yeah, no I get that. Does it get +2/2 if there are two  {Kird Chieftain} in play. I am thinking no.

No. It only refers to itself. That is pretty much universal when a card's own name is mentioned on it. (I say pretty much because I'm sure there's some exception)
