There's always the good 'ol {Presence of Gond} combo. If you just so happen to have an {Essence Warden} or a sister ({Soul Warden}/{Soul's Attendant}) out {Midnight Guard} will read:
{T}: Put X 1/1 Elf creature tokens onto the battefield and gain X life, where X is whatever the hell you want.
