Title: Keep or Sell?
Post by: The1337Magician on August 13, 2014, 02:42:31 PM
I bought the Mind Seize Commander 2013 Deck when it came out for $30, but haven't opened it because I thought it would gain in value. It has {True-Name Nemesis} and {Baleful Strix} in it for note. Amazon says its listing price is $150, but you can buy it for $30 still. How does this work? Should I wait and sell my Mint Box when it gains value or open it to sell the notables and make my 9th Commander deck. (I know, I'm addicted.)
Speaking of which, I pulled a Foil {Brainstorm} in a Conspiracy draft and what should I do with it? It's a little hard to direct trade for $60.
Thanks!

Sell {Brainstorm} and keep the Mindseize sealed. There are now two-fifths of the commander product are Mindseize decks, bringing the value down to the rest of them, it will go up eventually though.

Mind Seize is already MSRP from most places, due to being 2 per box in a set thats printed all year to death. The foil {Brainstorm} is a lot now, and foils usually retain some value through mass reprintings. It's a pretty safe bet. Brainstorm has been printed a billion times, and it's a common that still commands that price. It's likely to hold on.

Thing is: commander 2013 is out of print

Keep it sealed and wait a few years

Look at arsenal. Now $300 avg

Investments take more than a year to rise in price

Can't really compare it to arsenal. That was a hella limited item. It was selling for double msrp presale. These commander were heavily printed. Yes it should go up but more like the other commander decks.

Definitely. I was just wondering why Amazon would say the price is $150, but only sell it for $30. I have never seen it sold for $150 and wouldn't expect it to in a long time. But why does it list it like that? To make you feel like you're saving money?

If everyone sells every other copy and yours is the only one left, well you make the price

$150 is usually for the full set of 5 Commander 2013 set.

That makes sense for 5 $30 set.
