Unfourtaintly this is a rant.. Sorry everyone.
But have you ever created or predicted a tier one deck in any format, before anyone else(when I mean Someone else, I am referring to famous mtg players or just a community of players,) and talked or posted about it. And then when it explodes in the format, you don't get credited(when I mean credited, I am referring too when someone famous use this deck, and people commentate and nickname that player "founder" or creater of the deck you thought of like when the cards were spoloiers!
Like I said everyone rant!
Has this happened to anyone lose
* I understand when I say I was first, that I was probably not first, but I refer to "piloting" a deck that NOBODY belived in and then it just explodes and everyone plays it
I created a mono blue devotion list that is almost identical to the one that blew up. Put it together as soon as master of waves was spoiled, and sure enough a few weeks later it blew up :p Funny thing was that my roommate took one look at it and said "Eh...it looks decent"

My friend Tom actually did pretty much the exact same thing. He was ranting about {Mastet of Waves} and Thassa since they were spoiled and had a list just a few cards shy of what we now call Mono Blue Devotion.

To plus or minus that post... Hmmm...
Lol anyways to get back on topic although I have never done it a guy at my LGS played {Ad Naseum} before PT BNG which I think is before the deck really took off.

I only ever see people play decks that have top 8'd at a gp at my shop. Only my friends and I brew decks, and we get crap for it. And It's because good cards that work well together are somewhat easy to spot. And there's like, a lot of people that play magic, and unless you dated and published your deck, there'd be no way to tell who made the deck first. And after all of that, who really cares

Out of curiosity, why does it matter who came up with a deck first?
It's more for people who don't want to be known as someone who strictly netdecks. I take pride in the fact if one of my decks is thought up by a pro and is winning. My awesome part is that the people I play with know what I'm going to build, and then when it makes it, they are all "Hey, that's close to your list!" This happened with Monoblue, Rabble Red, and Bant Hexproof. So, I'm good, personally. :D
Unfortunately there are only a limited amount of decks that can be made (especially in standard) and a lot more people who play. If you give ten people the same set of cards. Where some cards work better together and some are useless. Most likely 7 of ten will make a similar deck. I am assuming that all ten people are play competitive.
I played living end before Travis woo, and USA control way before anyone else.
For the record, a lot of people work on the same idea and will usually have the same base. It doesn't mean it was stolen or you were not credited, but it could also be the someone made the same deck and worked around it. Famous players usually work in a team, around 8+ guys. They can have a lot of brews and a list similar to others is bound to exist over sensuous hours of work. Doesn't mean you were not credited, or tht you were the only one that came up with the deck. It means that other people could have had the same idea as yours and worked with it. Things happen, stop thinking you guys are the only people that make decks.
