Title: May 2015
Post by: Agrus Kos, Enforcer of Truth on August 04, 2014, 12:51:53 AM
So the release date for the third set of Khans block has been moved up to March, were it is usually a May/June release. Also, May has three limited GPs the same weekend on the same weekend. Seems to me we will see a big set released in May, likely Modern Masters 2. Here is a great breakdown from a MTGSalvation post:

"Something BIG has to be coming in May 2015.

For the first time in the history they moved the 3rd set of a block to as early as March! It's just 2 months after 2nd set - such a short period between Standard set releases hasn't happened before. This is an insane release rate but also clearly looks like they are making room for something big.

There's another clear sign that something special is coming in May - it's in the 2015 Grand Prix schedule (http://magic.wizards.com/en/articles/archive/2015-pro-tour-and-grand-prix-schedule-revealed-2014-08-02) - following a long 5 month break with no Modern GPs at all there are 3 "TBD" GPs at the same day on 3 continents and just after them 3 Modern Constructed GPs, also 1 per continent.

My call: Modern Masters 2, with a different name because it will be different this time. The set will contain entirely NEW cards designed specifically for the Modern format, and will have an unlimited supply. The "TBD" Grand Prix will be limited of the new Modern set."

Why do you feel it will be an unlimited supply

Probably because they don't want a repeat of MMA..

I doubt it will be in a unlimited supply. While reprinting staple cards is good for the environment, over printing them hurts the system. There is a very fine line on how much is to much and how little is to little. I agree that MMA was probably under printed but i think they learned that lesson. So I think it will be somewhere In between MMA and a unlimited amount.

I agree. That's why I was asking.

That was a quote, not my speculation. Although I will point out that at $8 a pop, they could still sell it at unlimited supply and keep staples around the same price, especially if they put the really pricey cards at mythic, and include lots of junk rares like {Countryside Crusher}
