Grixis control featuring {cruel ultimatum}. Name pretty much says it all, haha.
That's a actually a thing?
It's an unreal control deck that ppl don't seem to play and idk why??
The mana base isn't consistent enough and it is weak to UWR, Scapeshift, Jund and Twin.
Paying 7 at sorcery speed is not what a control deck wants to do, especially right now when Splinter Twin decks are so huge. Also, by taking out white you lose {Supreme Verdict}, {Celestial Colonnade}, {Wrath of God}, P{ath to Exile}, and {Sphinx's Revelation}, not to mention awesome sideboard stuff like {Wear // Tear}, {Porphyry Nodes}, {Leyline of Sanctity}, and {Stony Silence}. Lastly, white is the best color in Magic, so...

1. Cruel is not the only wincon
2. They don't cast it at 7 mana
3. They run damnation anger and drown (<-- SB)
4. They kick ass vs twin bc of their removal
5. You can't be serious {W} is the 2nd worst colour in magic lol! (Overall)
1. {U} obviously
2. {B} best removal and well {Necropotence} just a great color overall
3. {G} Tarmo Scooze ramp Pod need I say more
4. {W} great splash color but by itself is rather bad sure it has path/stp and Milf of Runes but srsly it's not that special.
5. {R} lol that is all
Actually, white and red have the greatest removal. Black just has more. And white is one of the best colors in modern. Cruel has removal, but not enough or some that are out of reach for Twins ability to fight removal. Yes, it has Anger, but it doesn't have Path.
White is that special, and it is worth it to note that Soul Sisters went on a 10-0 run, being a mono white deck. And 3 different Mono White Prison decks were in contention for day 2 until the last round at GP Worcester.
For the record, that gives white the best standing for mono colored decks in the GP Worcester meta.
I really think that you should stop making colors bad when they aren't.
Cruel Control is weaker to these matchups and isn't consistent to keep with with other decks. It is also why Esper isn't seen as much. They will not be as good as UWR because they lack good removal and their mana base is shotty due to the lack of color reliant Fetchlands,
as they aren't in the wedge colors beside Marsh Flats and Scalding Tarn.
Oh, and Cruel Ultimatum is what Sphinx's Rev wishes to become. Sure, it is sorcery, but it is also just better than Sphinx's revelation.
I'm sorry, red has the number one standing, white is second with green close to it.

I can see {W} bc of stp and path but R? Sure bolt is good but what if I have a courser? Also B has hand removal too

Versatile removal over hard removal anyday. I would rather have something that could also be a win condition if I need it to.
Bolt is the best card in the format. It is also the single most used card in the format.
It you have a courser, I'll get rid of it with path. That is why you run more than one color.

No and I fully agree I'm just saying that bolt is specific and 3 damage is not always enough.
But why in your opinion I'd Cruel Control not played? You seem very smart in Modern Magic :P

The mana base is the biggest problem, and it doesn't have as much reach as UWR control as in terms of cheap removal.
If it has Fetchlands more designated toward its colors, it would be a lot more prevalent and a lot stronger. Having only Enemy Color fetches hurts a lot of decks. Jund is different because it's turn one always has the same play where other wedges aren't always like that.
Sure grixis has terminate but remember path is just 1 mana, but remember grixis has no lightning helix, without the additional burn it doesn't always have the reach, I personally love cruel control but without the path, bolt, helix, lyze core as opposed to say bolt, terminate, pact, lyze core I think it's a lil rough, granted terminate as opposed to path doesn't nombo with leak its spell snareable and easier to be mana leaked ! I'm not saying its not viable I'm just saying it would take lots of meta-calling and practise with the deck to place well with it. Also another thing is the sideboard, perhaps the best part of UWR and why it is as good as it is is because of its sideboard. I'm not sure what grixis sides but it better be good to keep up!
Cruel control is one of those decks that does not have all the cards it needs right now to be teir 1.5+ but it will get better over the years.
Explanation: wizards is more likely to print more black removal then cards like path, lightning helix, etc. cruel does have damnation but it's outclassed by things like verdict and sphinxes rev quality cards which have recently put American colors of the top, but cruel control does not have the quality to much yet.
