Title: D Sphere in Modern?
Post by: Mattao19 on July 29, 2014, 02:08:21 PM
Is {Detention Sphere} good enough for modern control?

If it is would it be better than {Oblivion Ring}

3 mana is a lot and if a control deck is going to tap out for something like that its probably for a Geist of St Traft or Clique. Control needs cheap removal at instant speed. And {path to exile} is also a thing

True but I'm thinking for a speed that hits nonland permanents. Bc I'm running paths already but unless I counter their PW its hard for me to remove

I would say so as I've raced d-sphere in American control in modern on multiply occasions from different players

I've seen it show up. Pretty much just a u/w maelstrom pulse. Not bad. Not particularly great though

UW Control and Zur Enchantments are that only decks that use it. It is good enough for those decks.

And don't forget {Enduring Ideal}.  I run both D-Sphere and Oblivion Ring in Ideal as a bit of Tool-Box removal.
