Title: Can Mill be a thing?
Post by: Mattao19 on July 28, 2014, 04:36:51 PM
Looking back at my Esper mill list that I played I'm debating whether or not mill can be a thing. Obvi not Tier 1 but could it be Tier 2?

It's best math up is Grixis Cruel control, which is tier 2. It is weak against combo and aggro. It could be if prevalent enough, but it won't put up enough results.

I have only had my mill deck beat one time so far.. But I have only been play testing it. And aggro does nothing against it.

Be competitive and you'll understand. Play testing doesn't do anything if you're not play testing against the right decks. Mill is too slow and doesn't have a good engine. Aggro and combo demolish it in any big area with proper players.

Aggro is mills worst matchup! It's so hard to beat. RDW is almost an auto lose Game 1 at least G2 I side in let lines but still!!

I'd say about tier 2.5 at best.  But it's still fun to play and can steal games.  Except against tron.  Good luck milling  my emrakul.  ;)
{Rest in Peace}

Ah, but mill doesn't mainboard that, and i'd be siding in my {nature's claim}s

Tron is a difficult matchup but at least I mb 2-3 {Surgical Extractions} mostly bc Scapeshift is a thing lol and unless they beat me down with Snaps and Tribe Elders it's a free win lol

It still flips my deck which makes life much harder for you.  I versed mill once at fnm, I just told him straight up that his deck has 0 chance of winning due to emmy.  (he didn't have the whatchamacallit)  He just plain gave me the 2-0 win and went to have a cigarrete.  yes, make mill a thing.  >:)
Tron is very easy to beat post board. Game 1 is won merely off if luck, games 2 and 3 aren't very difficult though.

My deck does not really need rest though.
It just depends what I start with opening hand what I can do. And never really have an issue with life or anything. My last game I won with 39 life.. Haha
And against 2 people

Yeah, it's tons of fun and easily my deck of choice for FNMs, but in a big tournament, I would rather play either something proven or something a little more consistent.

I agree that consistency is an issue

I'm going I play test a lot and I think ill be going with Esper Mill. It's a strong deck that almost nobody is prepared for so it should be good (hopefully)
