I want to email myself my needed collection. I hit the button in the top right and selected email and it said no email account set up. Please set up an email account to send email.

I think click on your profifile. Then click account. Add your email. That should work.
I never had a problem. I use iPhone 3GS and when I click to email it opens my email set up with my phone. If you are using your phone you need to set up your email in your phone. If through iPad it should be the same, for computer I believe it works through outlook.
