play mono-black instead?  ;)

In my opinion
The only mono black that can keep up with monsters is pack rats :/

Dump {Plummet} for {Abrupt Decay}?  Gets rid of {Banishing Light}, {Courser of Kruphix}, and {Detention Sphere} is what I'm going for.

Not really. When you are draining 8 from Gary, it puts them down a turn. Besides storm breath they can't deal with Spector and removal just shoots your fatties down.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. The main deck is set, I love how it runs. The sideboard is my main concern, trying to optimize it and such... Since I'm going into an unknown meta

Well you ony have 3 black sources
7 if you count caryatids.

I'd find a way to put dread bore in.

And make domri a 4 of
Xenagos is fine as a 3 but i personally run 2.
With the gruul monsters. Run
I can ramp into my 5 drops and so on by t3

I'd suggest looking at variants that Chris Vanmeter has been playing. He's done very well with the deck and has been tweaking it for a while.

I've tried the variants that CVM has put together. Sure, he has put up great results with them. However, I have tested his build for several hours, and I just don't like it. Something about it doesn't feel right. Maybe it's the heavier black splash? Idk. All I know is that when I remove the black, my win% goes up a lot.
