Title: EDH and "Play" question
Post by: Destore117 on June 27, 2014, 06:46:59 PM
When an effect says "mana cost of spells you PLAY is reduced by~~~etc."
Does that only mean playing the spell from your hand? Or would it include Command Zone?
Wondering for the card {Edgewalker}

'Play' is errata'd to cast.  Unless the effect says otherwise (which Edgewalker doesn't), it'll affect your Spells, no matter what zone you play them from.  If you have a Legendary Cleric as your commander, Edgewalker will reduce it's cost.

Not always. Sometimes cards are left with 'play' to allow you to play lands; you can't cast lands.

like {nightveil specter} vs. {daxos of meletis}. you can play lands with specter but not with daxos.

I would've never known that if I hadn't been told just now lol.
