Title: Sacrificing
Post by: Avodroc13 on June 27, 2014, 10:44:02 AM
Can Abilities that say "sacrafice [this creature]: Do this" be triggered when an opponent forces me to sacrifice a creature?
I'm trying to make a "ticking time bomb" deck with {Dark Imposter} and exiling cards that have "sacrafice [this creature]: Do this".
I haven't started on it, because I don't know if it would work.

Yes because you can use a creature's ability in response to an opponent targeting it with something, while it is still on the stack. The only exception is if activating the ability requires tapping it and it has summoning sickness.

Just keep in mind that you will still have to sacrifice another creature when your opponent's object resolves.

I've come to the conclusion to make a sac deck, but for my creatures, not my opponents. And using creature that say "when this creature dies" but also using spells that give hexproof.

Anyways, thanks for the help guys. :)

you can respond by sacrificing your own creature, but it wont satisfy your opponents trigger causing you to sacrifice. if you have any other creatures, you'll still be forced to sacrifice one to say an {innocent blood} or something.

But I mean if I only have 1 creature out and I choose to activate it's ability and sac it to "do this", and then have no other creatures out, does their spell fizzle?

It wont fizzle, so much as not do anything.

You have a {Mogg Fanatic}
Your opponent targets you with a {Diabolic Edict}
You sacrifice your Mogg to poke them for 1 in response
Your opponent's Edict resolves and you sacrifice a creature (if you have one)
