(ie. {Mystic Snake}). Rafiq is generally exalted or voltron, or some combo of the two. You can't reliably build a deck that will switch between the two without also changing 30-40 cards in the deck.
Well the two generals you want to use have different play styles that go with them so you can't just switch out he general.

derevi can also be a spectacular prison deck. play {stasis} have tons of mana rocks so lands dont really matter, and keep untapping an island when derevi swings.
Quote from: Stoneco1d869 on June 27, 2014, 04:35:40 AMI think you're not looking hard enough. The only real similarities between these two generals is the fact that they are both U/W/G. The play styles that have to go with them are way to different. It's like if I were to swap my general {Heartless Hidgetsuge} for something like {Krenko Mob Boss}. Those generals have completely different play styles. You wouldn't take Melira Pod and replace Melira with {Yeva Nature's Herald}. The deck wouldn't work anymore. What you're trying to do won't work. If you want to choose a general if recommend Rafiq because he voltrons and kills incredibly fast
You guys aren't thinking hard enough:) I have it close, but trying to decide if need anything more, ie ramp, creatures, bounce/etb, timewalks, etc.
Right now the deck performs fine but I thought I could maybe tweak it. I do appreciate your opinions though.

No, everyone here is thinking hard enough, you're just an idiot.

i think it can be done rather easily acctually
all you need is {eon hub} {stasis} and {intruders alarm} and a self bouncing creature like {Ætherling} or {deadeye navigator}to untap your stuff and you can include as much aggro or control as you want for aggro lots of exalt creatures witch would be good with both and for more of a control feel add {frozen æther} to the other cards with some and some counter spells and you should be set with either as your commander

Obviously not. Both commanders are vastly different, however, the challenge I posted was to be able to run a sufficient deck that could use either. It can be done.
Side note: I have about 10 EDH decks and this is all I play. If I wanted to beat someone down with any deck I could do so. In this case, however I wanted a deck that could be fun and still able to use different generals incase it got boring for my, or my group to play.
