Title: Grenzo edh synergies
Post by: Agrajagzz9 on June 22, 2014, 12:00:48 PM
Ok so I built a grenzo goblins edh. It makes sense to me because with just 1 counter on him he will hit like 97% of relevant goblins in the deck. That being said I am still looking for cards with subtle synergies with grenzo. So far the cards which have worked the best have been  {Goblin Charbelcher}  {Past in Flames}  {Crucible of Worlds}   {Patriarch's Bidding}. All of these have huger synergy in the deck and help me to make the most use of grenzo's ability. I think  {Mana Echoes} will deserve a place in the deck 100% but I am looking for other clever little synergies like belcher. That card literally does everything I want it to do. I am trying to think of cards that will match my overall theme by letting me put cards on the bottom for a reasonable effect. Any thoughts? I am good on the goblins so please don't suggest which ones to be playing.

{reito lantern} for when they kill your dudes. also i would definitelty find a spot for {mana echoes} if your gonna go goblin tribal. {taurean mauler} is pretty sweet with echoes. also {door of destinies} {urza's incubator},and {coat of arms}.

A friend of mine switched out {Wort, Boggart Auntie} as his commander for Grenzo for Goblin Tribal, and the deck works amazingly.  Play all the Lords (Goblins get +1/+1) you can, {Goblin Warchief}, as well as {Mogg Catcher}, {Skirk Prospector} and {Kiki-Jiki, Mirror Breaker}.  {Mana Echoes} is also insanely powerful with Grenzo.  We've had one game where Mana Echoes was resolved, and a player wiped all the lands.  The Grenzo player proceeded to literally play his entire deck from the bottom up with Grenzo's ability.

With all the Lords that Goblins get, you never actually need to cast him for much more than X=0.  It works really well.

Also, {Goblin Assassin} for shiggles.  I've been blown out by that card more times than I can tell.

{Canal Dredger} it's a draft card. But that makes it easier to get your hands on, assuming your play group is cool with it.
{Junktroller} does the same basic thing.  {Vessel of Endless Rest} mana rock and does what you want. At least once.
{Soldevi Digger} it's old, it's ugly, it doesn't say target and it's not as good as  {Reito Lantern}, but it's something. If you can get your hands on it.
{Conjurer's Bauble} does what you want. Once. But for {1} and replacing itself, it's not terrible. I probably wouldn't bother with it though.
{Cellar Door} it does the exact opposite of what you want. And gives you a 2/2 zombie goodie for your troubles. I'd throw it in just in case  {Grenzo, Dungeon Warden} gets tied up so you have something to use all this graveyard to bottom power. You can always crack at an opponent and see what happens.
{Footbottom Feast} might also have a place. I'd also take advantage of the "look at the top x cards of your library blah blah then put the rest on the bottom of your library in any order/then put the rest into your graveyard." Good luck, I've vs'd a few {Grenzo, Dungeon Warden} decks and they are seriously competitive.

I have been trying to encorporate as much flashback into the deck as possible to minimize wiffing as ofter as possible and that has worked to great effect. The deck started out as a fun trolly deck but it is surprisingly powerful. I played out my deck with grenzo on like turn 6 or 7 one game

Did any of my suggestions help? :P
