Post by: 5/9 Turtle on June 20, 2014, 04:35:43 PM
How many cards are in a 2 inch stack of magic cards

I think it varies. I've played people with old decks and there cards seem thicker the older they get. But my premade foil decks seem really thick(fire lightning, grave born, etc).

Okay because I just finished sorting my cards and I had 18 stacks 2 inches high, and I was trying to figure out how many cards there were

I'm really lazy, plus I've already put them away

I found it they are approximately 0.012 inches thick making half a stack 83.3333333333333... Cards high. The whole stack being 166.333333333333333... Cards high. Multiply that 18 stacks and you get................................................. 3,000 cards approximately.

It depends on set and if foil or not:) they are all different thicknesses. I know because different sets will have the cards weigh different with the same amount of cards

if cards have different weight  and thickenss based on what set they are from, aren't they marked?

To a human touching them you can not tell the difference. But I have weighed out a certain number of cards and they have come out at different weights but it is so small of a difference. So I would say it is just production errors but hey

I've heard rumors that people will weigh pack and. Keep the heavier packs (because the foils weighs more) and sell others online.  I've never checked into this because I don't have/want to buy a scale for that low of a difference.

It is a very small difference but it is there

I'll spend hundreds of dollars and a very precise scale that fits into my pocket so I can buy only foil booster packs from walmart... Nah

I weighed three boxes worth of boosters with a restaurant digital scale that measures hundredths of ounces, the variation is not only negligible but not indicative of foil.

Trust me on this one, not worth the time guys, I've tried and I used a very effective system...

But you're just a llama I wonder what would have happened if an alpaca did it!

For the packs it does not work because they could have a token or one of the mtg promotional cards in it.. So that would not work.

I think each card is suppose to be .1 or .01 ounces each:) can't remember exactly and a specific .333 thickness.
