Title: Mtg
Post by: TreeSmoker on June 12, 2014, 05:47:22 PM
So I've learned over the 14-15 years of playing this game
People are in it for competition and fun some competitive fun

What are you in it for?

I play to have fun and be a little competitive. I honestly dont like to see the try Hards that rub it in your face when they win. It makes me want to tell them "I'm from the smackaho tribe, dont make me get out of this chair".
I've been playing since I was late 6 early 7. My mom got me into it. She passed away when I was 15 and i dropped out for a couple of years
Got back into the casual play in 2010 and just started doing tourneys January 1st this year
I like the competitive feel and it's just a relaxation for me. I get stressed so bad sometimes and magic helps me out way better than a certain tree did. I will probably get my kids into it and hopefully they enjoy it as much as I do.

So i ask again. Why do you play and how do you play? (:

I play for fun and to hang out with friends. I'm starting to play more competitively, but I just like to play dumb combo decks and white weenie for fun.

I'm with Reckless here. I've always enjoyed testing my intelligence. In addition, being a kinesthetic and visual learner, building things has always been fun for me. When I was younger, it was Bionicles and Thomas the Tank Engine (eff yeah), but now it's Magic. The idea of building something and seeing how well it performs entices me, and so I joined :)

I also enjoy winning, but not to be a winner, but rather if I win, that means I built the deck right. If I lose, it means I'm building it wrong, which discourages me

It's not fun to not make friends when playing
That's how I've made most of my friends
Lol
The only reason why i made really great friends with my lgs employees is by playing them
We just talk and have fun while playing
Kind of like the breakfast club but with cards and loud metal music and annoying kids asking questions about Pokemon when we are playing magic
Lolol

I usually make fiends at lgs' with my charismatic personality.

Nobody likes me when I wreck their deck, surprisingly.

I play for Pinks, it's kinda like ante, but loser doesn't have a deck anymore.  It's really fun, the trick is to spend like $50 on a meh deck and get lucky to take down the $300+ ones.

In all seriousness though, I play for fun, I can get competitive at times but mostly just there to enjoy the ride.

I'm along the line of Dylan.  I love strategizing in both building the deck and making plays. Having a turn go through smoothly knowing I made the right play is an amazing feeling. I love playing control because I feel like it takes the most brain power to play. And winning is just knowing I did something right. In short, I like to see what I am capable of when I play. Sealed formats are my favorite because then it isn't about how much I can spend on a deck (i just graduated high school money isn't my forte lol), and I guess I can get competitive at times.

I agree with you on the limited formats thing, I don't have the highest "magic budget" either :P

I started playing cause
A. I have always been addicted to card board crack like yugioh, naruto, bakugan.
B. I was in a state where i need to get my mind off of my father passing away
C. It was something i could beat my best friend at
D. It was a paradise away from home
E. To end it all it was because of a free comic book day.

Im a competitive player at tournaments but than playing casual I'm like the royal jester of my lgs. I have been playing for 2 years and i have been addicted, but i have met so many new people from it, its not even funny.
