I sleeved up BBD's junk list tonight for FNM at a LGS. With only a few play test prior to start I felt {Elspeth, the sun champion} was an easily removed win-con and {banish light} although a constellation trigger was often just a temporary removal with the rampant of {abrupt decays} and other enchantment hate.
No discredit to the list as I didn't get many play testing in. But based on the list splashing white for 2 banishing lights and 2 elspeth felt weak although it gives oodles of options to the sideboard which my current deck needs adjustment to justify the blue splash.
Cannot complain ended tonight 4-0-3 (double draw into top 8 as only undefeated and splitting the prize pool at top 4)
Game 1: control/aggro I lucked out playing a semi newer player he ran an azorious control shell with {Daxos} and scry fish long games but ended 2-0
Game 2: mono black devotion light white splash for sideboard. Game 1 {aetherling} sealed the game as my opponent didn't have an answer to win in time. Game 2 he mulligan to six and was stuck on two lands. Can't justify the sideboard plan here.
Game 3: mono black splashing red for dreadbores. An unanswered kiora ult sealed match 1 easier to pull of ramping and on the play! Match 2 kept a one lander forest three {sylvan cyratid} a doom wake and eidolon on the draw found my second land on turn four unfortubaetly the greedy keep ended me quickly to three life babe zombies a turn from sweeping with a doom wake! Match 3 {packrat} nearly ended me quick finding my bile blight in time paired with double abrupt decay a rough 3 card trade swept away the rats and going all the way to turn 5 on times rounds doom wakes swept the board and won the game milling myself down to the last four cards my all my doom wakes and aetherling a were shoved to the bottom. Luckily survived on timely removal
In top 8 played a red deck wins doom wake made quick work of the board and courser/sylvan bodies with life gains was just too strong.
Overall, I was pleased with the last minute blue splash over white. The sideboard wasn't identical to what I played tonight as the sideboard wasn't thought thru well prior. I felt I wanted a second {negate} and a third {Golgari charm} to aid against control and burn. Still need to explore blue options and the sideboard.
Any constructive suggestions are welcomed when suggesting a card replacement in main board would appreciate suggestions for cuts as well as just jamming extra cards is hard ;)
I have to say, I'm not really a fan of {Doomwake Giant}. There has to be something better for this slot.
{doomwake giant} especially in multiples with the free {mana bloom} triggers honestly serves as a supreme verdict I was able to sweep two demons and a blood baron in a single turn I'm sold :D there's not a lot of replacements that would fill the same role. It's for the constellation triggers
I think i like {thoughtsieze} main board better than {ultimate price}
I would love to find room for ~3 in the main board but as a singleton I opted for ultimate price. Any suggestions of cuts to make the room? It's hard to find space for cards without cutting enchantments ;(
Also considering {putrefy} in the side as some test plays against jund he sideboard in golgari charm and my ultimate price did nothing to his storm breath ;(
{putrefy} is better than ultimate price in main board in my opinion, and i cant think of things to cut for {thoughtsieze} main board without cutting some enchantments or a kill spell or kiora all are tought options and you should make that decision for your meta at your local fnm.
I would assume he had 2 or 3 doomwake giants, he gets a 1 cost constellation trigger from mana bloom every turn and then casts another enchantment or 2 for the finisher.
Yes, as stated previously with two doom wakes on the field I was able to drop two blooms making -4 killing the blood baron and a brain maggot. So 4, however not then four clearly.
I helped work the $1K Event yesterday at my store and there was a really good player who decided to run this deck. I watched closely, and it seemed to do alright in his first match-up; but against the regular meta, it was pitiful.
However, I LOVE this build after watching it. It's so much fun!
Did he run the white junk constellation list or actually decided to try blue as well? I got stomped attempting the white in some playtesting somehow the blue made it run smoother for myself.
It was Junk.
