So I lost one a of classmate's library books, and the cost of the book is roughly $11. They are charging me $21, because THERE IS A FEE FOR PROCESSING FEES. In that case, why isn't there a fee for processing the fee for processing the fee? And why isn't there a fee for processing THAT fee? I am just really annoyed by this. Isn't this extortion? Can't I buy a copy of the book to replace for them?
Sorry, I just need to vent the rage of extortion from the local library. They are a {basilica screecher} with all that extortion going on the stack (of books).
Wait till you learn about parking tickets
Buses FTW.
Also, since my family has an Amazon prime account, I can get the book for $8, free shipping. That sounds better than $21... I'm gonna call them up and ask if I can do that instead.
How about speeding tickets? The fee in NC is $30, regardless of your speed. Then they tack in $180 in court costs and other fees, even if you pay online and don't need to go to court!!! That is extortion lol
I don't know where to start but parking tickets or the cost to park in downtown chicago.

We do have a great public transportation system. But it's kinda hard to bring all my tools, equipment, and supplies on the train or bus.

Do you mind me asking what you do for a living? I may be able to help with that problem, as I had to solve that for myself

I'm a plumber. I need my work van. If not for the stuff I keep it stocked with the ability to quickly and in a timely manner go from job to job or go pick up parts.
I completely understand. I attend culinary school, so I have mastered the art of carrying everything in one bag on a crowded bus. I do get yelled at when I bring baguettes home though๐

If you had this conversation with me 3 weeks ago I would have totally been able to. I was in town for a restaurant convention and would have loved to meet someone from this forum.
Solution: don't lose library books, especially if they're not your own :P
Fortunately, my friend owes me some money, and she agreed to give me $21.
