Title: Control of creatures
Post by: KulrathKnight on April 05, 2012, 01:36:01 AM
I have {Roil Elemental} in play and I grab control of a creature (let's say {Vigor}) and my opponent has some other creature ({Phytohydra}) in play. If I use {Reins of Power}, who ends up controlling {Vigor} (or any creature I grab with {Roil Elemental}) by the next turn?

Wow that's a tough one I never played with any of those cards.  You are losing control of that creature so you should lose vigor but reign of power pretty much says you have to switch back the creatures you switched until end of turn so vigor would come back to you I think.  But that's just my interpretation.  Makes me wonder if vigor would still be under roils control and if not do you control vigor permanently now.

You and I have the same concern.

Since you lost control of {Roil elemental} you will lose control of {Vigor}. {Vigor} would not come back under your control.

But reins of power says switch creatures each control until end of turn I think you have to return it no?

{Roil Elemental} gives you control of those creatures for as long as you control the Roil. Once Reins resolves, you lose control of Roil and its ability wears off. You will give all creatures you control a that time (Roil and Vigor) and gain control of Phytohydra.
At the end of the turn, you'll get back the Roil but not Vigor. You'll give back the plant.
Now, if it where a {Sprouting Phytohyrda}, then any copies it made after the Reins happened would be yours to keep.

No because you only controlled {Vigor} through {Roil elemental}'s ability and once you lost control of {Roil elemental} you lost control of {Vigor}. {Roil elemental}'s control over {Vigor} is temperary and based on you having control of {roil elemental}.

Ok. Would I keep Vigor if I {Twincast} the {Reins of Power}?

Still no.

At some point, you are losing control of the Roil. Regardless of how temperary it is, the game knows. You cant trick the game, it's too smart for that. It knows all and sees all, man.

What if I have a {Bazaar Trader} out instead of playing Reins? Can I give {Vigor} to myself and permanently control him then? Or no matter what I do, if Roil dies or I lose control of it, I lose control of Vigor?

How?  Could you be a little more specific?
