{Daring Thief}:
What type is it talking about? Subtype or supertype?

Neither.

Cards can have Three types:
Super type (Legendary, Snow)
Card Type (Creature, Planeswalker, Instant, Sorcery, Artifact, Enchantment, Land, Tribal)
Subtype (Creature types and Land Types)

Daring Theif looks at the Card types and nothing else.

So if a card said Artifact Creature, could I exchange an artifact for an artifact creature, or vice vs?
