Title: Couple questions
Post by: Avodroc13 on May 18, 2014, 03:53:06 PM
1. If I was at 1 life and my opponent was at 1 life, and I cast {Lava Axe} or another damaging spell then my opponent casts {Shock}, who loses first? Could I save myself with {Angel's Mercy}?

2. {Stuffy Doll} equipped with {Pariah's Shield} and hexproof while my opponent(s) is/are at 20 life, = win? Trying to work it in somehow if it's possible.

3. While reading rules, 703.4e confused me a bit, towards the end does it mean in a KoH match, the king can only attack one person at a time, or have I misread it?

4. {Giant Growth} is cast on [a creature] then proliferate is used. Can I "duplicate" the +3/+3 counter? Does the dupicated counter stay there after the turn is ended?

5. {Azorius Keyrune} is turned into a 2/2 w/ flying until end of turn. {Mask of the Mimic} is played, I choose the Keyrune as the target. Since the Keyrune is currently a creature, when I get one out of the library, is that one also a 2/2? At end of turn do they both revert back to normal artifacts?

6. --not really a question about rules, just curious.--
I went to walmart and saw a new season on the shelves. Journey Into Nyx. I got home and wanted to look into the season, but the database won't update. My brother has the season on his iMTG, but it won't update for me. Any ideas? (iOS version of iMTG.)

Thanks in advance, and please provide rulings, if possible.

1. {Shock} is in response to {Lava Axe}. You will lose first, unless you cast {Angel's Mercy}. Whenever anyone casts an instant or activates an ability does something in response to what you did, the thing that was activated/cast LAST happens FIRST.

2. Unless they can get rid of it, with, for example, {Final Judgement}, yes, all damage they would try to deal to you would instead go back to them. It is not an automatic win, but it is close.

3. Not sure what that is, and don't have time to look it up. I'll either try later, or someone else can answer.

4. It is not a counter. It just gets +3/+3 until end of turn. It only gets a counter if the word counter is specified in the card. Also, they only use +1/+1 counters and -1/-1 counters now, so if it's not getting one of those boosts or losses, chances are it's not a counter.

5. The one you get from your library will not enter as a 2/2. It only specifies the name, and nothing else about it. If you activate it, it will become a 2/2. Both will revert to non-creature artifacts at the end of turn, either way.

6. I have no idea. You could try this instead.

Next time, please create a new topic for each question. It helps prevents bad rulings, is easier to follow and makes looking up past questions easier.

Every question deserves its own topic

Don't worry about it  I've been vented at before.

As far as the issue of venting. The following is taken from the "please read this before posting" thread stickied at the top of this forum.

Limit "Multiple" Question Threads. Anthology threads of several different questions are tricky because you can't give the thread a significant title, follow-up discussions are hard to keep up with if the thread jumps back and forth between several topics. Also, a members question might be answered in that thread and lead to needless repeat posting. As a result, we prefer that each thread contain only one card, or 1 set of card interactions. If you have multiple questions after your latest FNM, don't feel afraid to ask, just put them in separate posts please.

The problem with multiple questions in 1 topic is its easy to disassociate questions and answers. In this thread, for example, if you want to get the answer, you have to scroll up and down to read them all. And this in a post where everything was answered in the second post.  It's also harder to verify answers if someone makes a mistake. The rules are there for a reason.

The reason why it's requested to post multiple rules is for simplicity of thread searching.

If someone talks about a scenario unrelated to the main one, we add confusion into the mix when someone wants a concise answer.

Since people come for rulings, it's nice to have the answer made and thread locked.

Since this is so off track, I have to ask here because I'm not sure where to put it in other topics.

What is Boss 241, User 14, and why am I User -4? My friend who got this app at the exact same time I did is a Boss 1. Is it judged from the amount of posts? Because I post at least once a day. Not sure what it means.

Boss means you "bought it all" in the in app purchase
User means you did not "buy it all"

The 241 means that person has been given 241 positive, or likes, on comments.  The negative numbers means someone has that many thumbs down to comments, or dislikes

What does that mean? I almost never answer questions because I'm learning. I don't want to misquote any rulings and give false answers. Also, I've never traded with anyone through iMTG, so it can't be that.

I've bought it all, but can't sync with the iTunes store because this is an older model iPod. :/ No worries, I was just glad that number didn't mean I was a bad/untrustworthy user.
