Always thought this would be a great combo but I haven't had time to play around with it and really don't have a clue where to start. Let me know what you think if at all.

If you look at Manabarbs' first ruling (in its page in this app) it appears as though it'll work just fine! Go for it!
That is, provided you only cast spells and tap mana on your turn. Not sure what you'd build around it though. How can yu make your opponents tap more land? Oh! {Ghostly Prison} and {Norn's Annex} come to mind. So do {Windborn Muse} and {Magus of the Tabernacle}. {Collapsing Borders},{Sulfuric Vortex}, {Earthquake}. Basically, red spells that hurt everyone, and white spells that "tax" your opponents. I see a deck forming...
A friend of mine ran mana barbs and personal sanctuary at the last fnm I went to. He got destroyed, but it was cool when it worked.
I literally had this exact idea come to mind earlier this week... I can't think of a good way to make it viable, but it would be super fun to play as a 'referee' deck in EDH multi's
I really like this combo. I've loved {Mana Barbs} since it was printed in 2010, I've just never been able to find a good use for it. Now I want to build my first modern deck using this combo. Any suggestions on modern cards that will support. My collection of pre-Alara cards is very small but I do have a 2 {Idyllic Tutor} that will defenatly go in.
