Post by: Taysby on May 14, 2014, 05:32:57 PM
Can take us over without firing a single bullet.  That is all.

Umm...no. If there is one thing we have learned from American history, it is that we are a bunch of greedy a$$holes so we would not give up. Also, we have nukes....

They could not. Reason: United Nations.

How would that math work? If I owed $1000 I would still owe $1000 plus the interest on the terms of my loan.  You can't just say I'm upping what you owe. All my debt is under a contract. No idea where you get this stuff.

Where is milk $3? All the milk I've seen around here is $5...

We have a very well armed military, and civilian population. China couldn't physically step here if we didn't want it. Collapsed economy or not.

The US produces enough food to feed the world 3 and a half times over.

But what's your point to this?

But if people can't afford it, how are they going to eat it?
You do realize that our government has the ability to completely jump in and take over the economy in times of emergency? Also, our collapsed economy government could easily be rescued by going to war with China, just as it did in WWI and WWII, a war would make our economy boom.

Edit: THIS SO HARD :P

We wouldn't be able to afford it.  We couldn't borrow money, because no one would trust us.  After all the currency would have just lost most of its value.
NATO would help us. The UN Security Council might step in, but they would have to get around China's veto power. We would not lose a war to China, if they attacked, even if we had to threaten to use nukes. Even the almighty America was afraid of going into Pakistan to get Bin Laden because Pakistan has nukes. If we were afraid of a country we could easily crush, don't you think China is afraid of us?

All they would do is revalue our currency and come in as our savior.  They would do nothing to declare war, or anything thing else.  And do you believe that NATO and the un would be able to get actual help to everyone who needs it in time, or would even want to, when we are just diving in a hole with no way out?

Seeing as China is Communist( I think) and NATO is an anti-communist organization they would help us

Every major nation in the work has crazy high debt, that everyone realizes cant be paid off in any close amount of time. If our currency devalued and economy collapsed, you do know the bigger nations would fall with us right? All our economies run off each other, when one big dog falls they all will follow.

I repeat. Let's sum it up in magic terms.
Player America: I take your money, I'll give it back.
China: (nothing)
America: I don't give your money back... Yet.
China: We decrease your populations toughness with...
America: {Wrath of God} {Damnation} {Day of Judgement} {Supreme Verdict}.
Korea: can I join the next game?

First, they would have to get everyone together.  Then they explain the situation and bicker over the help (if any, because Merica would be on the path to self disruption due to no one wanting the currency). After that, they would have to find out how to get it to anyone, and how we'd repay them, and if all of that happened soon enough, they wouldn't give indefinite help.
First of all, China doesn't actually own that much of our debt. We owe ourselves 4.7 trillion of our debt (debt owed to future taxpayers), so the 16 trillion figure that people throw around is just to scare people and only recorded at 16 trillion for book keeping purposes. Also, NATO stands for the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, they are obligated through treaties to defend us if anyone attacks. Lastly, MozillaButcher is correct, NATO was founded to oppose the Warsaw Pact, a group made up of the USSR and its satellite nations.

Also, if they devalue our currency, that would hurt them too. That means they're losing money and we'd just cut off trade with them. China is not independent food wise so they'd starve before we did. We also have a much better military and connection with the rest of the world. We win

Not if they backed their currency with gold first.

Also, Conan has a point.

There it is .... Should have read the third page.
