Title: Ultra pro art sleeves
Post by: Ptsgpbk on May 10, 2014, 08:36:49 AM
Hey guys,
i got some avacyn restored ultra pro sleeves on thursday and i am appalled at the queality.
The sleeve is a glossy silver background with a sticker on the back overall. i feel like i am breaking down here because i just wasted £6 on these sleeves.
what happened was i was shuffling the deck and one sleeve suddenly tore, splitting the artwork from the sleeve, and now it looks horrible and absolutely hate ultra pro right now

That's what they do bro, sorry. Ultra-pro's should be called ultra-poo's. They  just don't hold up. Dragon shields are WAY more durable, I've heard kmc is good too, but I've never used them.

I have had experience with the pro mattes and they were all right *cringing face* and I thought the art ones would be the same

I use the ultra pro perfect fit and kmc matte for my legacy deck. It's a tight fit getting the cards into the perfect fits but once they're in they shouldn't ever need to come out.

Do the pro fit split easily like their other products?

Same. That may be because I put clear sleeves over mine but still

The graphic ultra pros aren't worth sheet. I got grumpy cat sleeves for my EDH because LOL but they tore up super quick. Now using dragon sheilds, and hyper mats are my go to draft/sealed sleeves

I got the Ashiok sleeves and after about a week I went back to the pro matte ones. I've never had trouble with ultra pro matte but the glossy vinyl picture ones are .poo..

Switching to kmc

I've used ultra pro, dragonshields, and KMCs, and I think KMCs are the best by far. They're durable and they shuffle easily. Dragonshields are indestructible, but they're .loving. impossible to shuffle and aren't cut the same width. Ultra pros are what I use for draft. They're super cheap and look cool and I don't draft much, so they don't really get enough use to be able to split.

Tl;dr
You've made a wise decision by purchasing KMC sleeves.

But kmc sleeves cost more!

It's a difference of like $3...

Really?  Hmmm...

If I'm remembering right, Ultra Pros always ran me $6~ and I just ordered two packs of KMCs at $8~ a piece of of amazon. They'll be more expensive at your lgs, but not by much, I wouldn't think.
