Title: Fat packs
Post by: Nobbert on April 03, 2012, 05:56:15 PM
So I literally just bought a New Phyrexia fat pack from target because why not?  The first five packs were rubbish an I was mourning the loss $42. Until I pulled a {Batterskull} and then a {Phyrexian metamorph} and them a {sword of war and peace}.  :D

A big-ass pile of land, commons, and uncommons. Then two packs of the current core set. And one pack each of the two sets after it. So right now it should be two 2012 packs, an innistrad and a DKA

But does anyone know if they have been updated or not?  Not that I'm gonna complain about 20$. But I would like to know

I think the toolkits are all still 2011 core packs and 2 others of random variety.  I think you can get Worldwake packs in them sometimes.....could be wrong.  I just remember researching the toolkits online before buying them and I watched a YouTube video of a guy opening one and he got a {jace the mindsculptor}......needless to say, I went out and bought 2.......no jace for me tho lol.

I really don't care about the box, the book, the land. So what I do, is for forty-five dollars (instead of getting a fat pack) is buy ten packs and a spin down counter!!

That works.  I find the boxes great for managing my collection though.  I think $45 is a little high for a Fatpack, depends on region, I suppose.

Yeah, that's why I don't get the fat pack, the only places I can buy them (besides online which includes shipping) have them for 45!! I also have plenty of other boxes around my house too!!

My best pulls from a fatty were a {Phyrexian obliterator}, {elesh norn, grand Cenobite} and {Jin gitaxias, core agur} in my first np fatpak.

I have heard from a store owner that the rares and foils are better in fatpacks compared to boxes. I'm skeptical, but he opens hundreds of boosters all the time.

I'd be inclined to believe him, I've always seen at least 1 mythic per fat pack and the rares are usually above average to great.

This says nothing, on average there's one mythic and one foil out of every eight packs!!

Fat packs have been good to me I got two batterskulls from one. Three white mickeys from another. Most recent I got that blue chick that steals creatures, a foil flip equipment guy and a black mickey

So I'm interested in buying of these and it seems a lot of places really bump up the prices? One spot by me says $42 for a gatecrash fatpack, another $45.99 and then another one says $34??? What are the average prices in your region?

A friend was talking about how many more mythics were pulled on average between fatpacks and booster boxes...

I got a decent pull from a box of gatecrash, how would most of you who have purchased both compare? Which are you more inclined to buy, do previews of any sets make you reconsider a booster purchase over a fatpack?

Collectorstore.com has gatecrash fatpack for $33 last I checked. If you spend over $100 it's free shipping.

Wow necro thread revive.

I buy fat packs for the storage box and for the dice, the lands are a bonus too.

I've bought so many fat packs its ridiculous. I have heaps of die, heaps of boxes, heaps of lands, non-basic and otherwise.

The best pull I've ever had from a fat pack was when I bought an Avacyn Restored pack. I pulled all Avacynian angels apart from Bruna, Griselbrand, and a whole stack of other awesome or amazing cards. I was so happy. My mate was furious though. XD

My best pull was from a dark assention pack, more from the way the cards worked together than from many strong cards, though i got a vorapede, which is a female dog

Keep the language PG-9
