Post by: TreeTopSky on April 26, 2014, 09:40:30 PM
If i have  {Elixir of Immortality} on the field and use it, then play {Faith's Reward} can i retrieve it from my library and return it to the battlefield?

No. Elixir is not in your graveyard.

Faith's reward only saves what is currently in your graveyard. Not only would the elixir get rid of your graveyard, but the elixir never goes to the graveyard itself. Faith's reward is useless in this situation. Try a {wrath of god} with faith's reward

What about  {Armageddon}? While Armageddon is on the stack can i cast Faith, and all lands are destroyed then mine return?

Well, if you cast it before Armageddon resolves, you'll just get back what had already been out there this turn, then your lands will blow up.  If you float the mana (activating mana abilities, but not using the mana right away), wait for 'geddon to resolve and THEN cast it, you'll get all of your lands back.

so use it with something like  {Gilded Lotus} and  {Llanowar Elves} after Armageddon?

That's one way.  Or, if you have four plains Untapped after paying for Armageddon, you can do what's called Floating mana.  This means that you tap the four lands to produce four White mana before they're blown up, but you aren't actually using it to cast a spell, yet.  This mana will stay ('float') in your mana pool until the next step or phase begins.  So, with four White in your mana pool, you can let Armageddon destroy all the lands, THEN use the mana to cast Faith's Reward to bring all of your own lands back.

So I can have {Hidden Strings} ciphered to a creature, tap all my mana to "Float it" then deal combat damage with said creature and untap 2 mana and retap it to add more to my mana pool before using it to cast something?

Say I tap 4 mana before combat, after damage is dealt, untap 2 of the 4, then tap those 2 again to have 6 mana in total in my mana pool to cast {Isperia, Supreme Judge} on the 4th turn of the game?

Mana empties from your mana pool each time you move to a new step or phase.  Unless any effect says otherwise ({Kruphix, God of Horizons} or {Omnath, Locus of Mana}, for instance), you'll lose the floated mana by the time you want to cast what you want to cast.

So the mana floats only during 1 phase for me to play instants after sorceries resolve?

I apologize on my friends behalf. (He continues to post on my behalf)

What i wanted him to ask ( but didnt):

I can tap one blue land to add it to my mana pool, tap a creature that has "T: Untap target permanent" to untap that blue land, and tap it again to add another blue mana to my mana pool?

Mana pool empties after each phase

106.4. When an effect produces mana, that mana goes into a player's mana pool. From there, it can be used to pay costs immediately, or it can stay in the player's mana pool. Each player's mana pool empties at the end of each step and phase.
