Title: Counters
Post by: Lunis22 on April 22, 2014, 05:32:22 PM
I know I have been asking a multitude of questions recently but I have another if I may. Can non creature artifacts maintain +1/+1 counter if they were a creature by effect at the time of recieving them? For instance glint hawk idol can become a 2/2 artifact creature for 1{w} if an effect would place counters on it while it was a creature would those counters remain for use on the next turn since the card never leaves play?

Yes. Counters placed on permanents will remain on that permanent, even if it's no longer a creature.

{Raging Ravine} is a perfect example.

What about {Gideon, Champion of Justice}? If you use his 0 ability which turns him into an indestructible creature. Situation: I 0 Gideon, then +1 {Ajani, Caller of the Pride} can I give that counter to Gideon? Does the counter stay on him if so?

I would say yes. You would have to remember which counters are for loyalty and which one is for P/T
