No. Regeneration stops lethal damage and destroy effects only.

614.8. Regeneration is a destruction-replacement effect. The word "instead" doesn't appear on the card but is implicit in the definition of regeneration. "Regenerate [permanent]" means "The next time [permanent] would be destroyed this turn, instead remove all damage marked on it and tap it. If it's an attacking or blocking creature, remove it from combat." Abilities that trigger from damage being dealt still trigger even if the permanent regenerates. See rule 701.12.

Even though -1/-1 does destroy that creature it is not destroyed?? So if it is not destroyed then how does it die?

A creature who's toughness is reduced to or below zero is sent to the graveyard, do not regen, no indestructible, just dead

Can I at least pass go and collect my$200?

-1/-1 'd to death is not a destroy effect. It is simply placed in the graveyard as a state-based action as a creature with 0 toughness does in any situation. That's why {tragic slip} is the kryptonite of {blightsteel colossus}. -1/-1 is quite good.
