Title: Need help for a deck for my son
Post by: respawned on April 07, 2014, 06:42:51 PM
My son has decided to try magic (love it) and I asked him what play style he thinks he might like...he said a good defense and build his attacks and attack at once...pillow fort maybe? White weenies? Something else? Not my personal play style so not sure how I should go about this...colors cards ect...wanting to make it budget to start off and if he likes it I'll start adding better cards...ideas?

Good defense? Hmm.. I'd try some variance of green. I highly recommend against blue as a starter color. White/green are pretty good starter colors IMHO

Wall ramp would be cool. Stuff like {axe bane guardian} to ramp onto a {worldspine wurm}.

Start him with RG Aggro until he really grasps te strategy, then switch him to a Jund token-y build.

I could put up my {Wild Beastmaster} deck. It's really cheap and fairly good introduction to magic. Has a majority of the basic abilities like trample, deathtouch etc. with an overrun style win con. Almost everything is a 1 drop and it's just really quick

I'll have it up in a couple hours. I'm currently I'm the car on my way home. Screw it, I'll have it done in 20 minutes. I'm not the one driving

The new Mono-Green aggro is very strong right now and a easy deck to pick up

I would have to suggest starting with white. Mainly due to {Palisade Giant}, and {Indestructiblity}

I appreciate all the input and help to all...I think I've decided to go with a simple WG based on life gain and possibly tokens
