Accused: slenderbro
Victim: respawned
I have all the messages back and forth but not sure how to put it here as most of it is text with some pm's as well
On march 2nd slenderbro and myself agreed on a trade (roughly $70)...he said he was waiting on one card of the trade to come in the mail and I could wait to send
On march 4th I sent anyway as he was hoping to play those cards that week
On march 6th he confirmed he had received and everything looked good (other than I forgot to include two zen swamps, which I realized and messages him about before he received)
March 17th I asked him if he received the card yet, to which he replied he hadn't...we decided to replace that card with value, at which point he tells me he doesn't have another of the cards in the original trade...we decided to give the card he was supposedly receiving to sat to see if it came in
March 21st I asked if it came in, no response
March 22nd I asked again and he said no...he also was missing yet another card in the original trade...I asked him to send the one card left that he claimed to have along with my cards back minus enough for the one I was actually receiving from our trade...he said he would send the one card and value for the rest of mine...I reluctantly agreed
March 27th i asked if he mailed them yet, no response
Today (April 1st) I asked again, no response...I tell him I need to know something, no response...I tell him he's forcing me to file mail fraud charges, then he says that all of his stuff was stolen and starts with my cards came in the mail shredded, ect.
I'm filing mail fraud charges tomorrow but thought I should post here as well so others would know not to trade with him
If someone will explain how to post messages and text here I will most certainly do do
If I did this wrong or broke any rules with this post I apologize
Thank you,
Respawned
Wait to press charges until multiple victims and a few months, and a lot of money.

Don't do that. More victims isn't a good thing.

Hey, that sounds familiar.
Actually, a lot of this sounds like my trial against him minus the angry messages. Forgets he's traded something/it getting stolen, not shipping for a long time, claiming the end he got was damaged, etc.
Check it out. It might be relevant.
(And I did find the messages I thought I lost. At the time I didn't know how to view the message history)
I actually read it earlier today...twas a month to late thou :/
I was going into a trade with him a couple months ago. A bunch of infect things for his 4 {blood crypt}s. We agreed and he said he would send on Saturday, went to his fnm and apparently all his shocks got stolen.

Diabetes buddies !
Slenderbro has responded on Facebook. He claims that he can't log into his account and he asks if you would not file the charges. He claims that he has signed up for the US Navy nuclear engineering program and that these charges could literally ruin his life. He says, "add me to the untrustworthy list and ban me if you must, but I'm no scammer." He is also sticking by the story that his cards were stolen.
Quote from: Taysby on April 01, 2014, 10:56:35 PM
And that his arrived shredded?
And why can't he log in?
He claims both sides were stolen at FNM. "I dont have ANY cards to send out... They were stolen at fnm"
I don't know why he can't log in, just said, "so i cant log into my imtg account for whatever reason..."
He has been texting me...personally I don't believe his cards were stolen (due to multiple factors) thou I can't prove that...he claims a friend is giving him a {force of will} and asked if I'd accept that...I'm skeptical that this is true and he's just trying to get me to not press charges...I'm giving him one week to send me a tracking number...if I don't receive the tracking number or if what arrives is not what was described I'm filing mail fraud...I have told him this via text as well
Even if his cards were stolen...he was responsible for my cards he hadn't sent yet and he has told multiple people on different occasions that his cards were stolen...that being the case he should have kept better watch...the main thing that erks me is he didn't really care...he wouldn't respond until I was going to press charges and he then either blamed the condition of my cards he received after already saying they all came in fine or he just blatantly didn't care and said tough luck when it was his responsibility
I'm not defending him, just relaying what he is saying so that we can resolve this matter.

I understand that...if I came accross as attacking you I apologize :)
He's been messaging me on Facebook,
When I asked about Taysby having a similar issue with his cards:
"Yes, if you knew how often things get stolen at my lgs you'd understand"
I brought it up later in the conversation:
"You put yourself in the situation, if you knew the lgs had a history, keep a closer eye on your .poo. and don't expect someone else to just get over paper."
I referred to the cards as paper because of an earlier statement he made:
""Help" isnt asking me a bunch of questions then doing absolutely nothing. "Help" would be getting him to stop trying to press charges over GOD DAMN PIECES OF PAPER"
I won't say he is lying or not but I to have had my stuff stolen at a Fnm my whole binder was jacked while I was talking to the guys that take down wins and losses you turn you back once and there gone I hope he does come threw tho and do the right thing
Back packs people!
That's what did it lol my stuff was in my backpack I never left home without it lol I didn't know wether to be mad about my $50 backpack or my cards but it's easier to grab a back pack and just leave I didn't know tho why no one noticed him taking my bag I was a bit tweeked about it. But any was back to the trial hope it gets resolved.

Money is just pieces of paper, but it has ... Value... *shudder* (really it doesn't, gold does,, and money is slowly heading toward its natural state, 0, but whatever.). Just the same as cards.
Tell him that argument (minus my rant). And that his excuses aren't helping him. From me, thanks.
He's apparently stalking the trial so he's seen what you have to say Taysby 😉
He wasn't too happy about my post though.. 😰
I recently attempted to make a trade with him, asked if he would be willing to send first and he completely flipped out over why I wasn't okay with simultaneous sending. It's just a thing I do with members I've never had dealings with. When I asked why he couldn't send first he said it was because he needed the cards that Friday and wasn't okay with waiting. Not sure if this is helpful or pertains to the issue at hand, but I found it really strange. I did remember his crap he pulled in the past and honestly that was an additional reason why I asked for him to send first.
Just file the report and get it over with. If we can't tell if he's being truthful, he's probably lying.
From what he's saying on the Facebook post he made, he has no intention of compensating you and thinks you should drop it because it's just cardboard.

From what I see, it just really seems like he is refusing to compensate the victim in any way. I'm not sure why he doesn't just make another account and come here to defend himself?

I agree.
From what Spencer just sent me, it seems like he doesn't intend to compensate, and just wants the charges dropped because they would have a negative impact on him.
I believe asking someone to drop charges just because you don't want to deal with the consequences is ridiculous. He should get on here and defend himself, because from what I've seen, there's no real reason to drop these charges.

He is responsible for his end no matter the excuse. If his cards actually got stolen, crappy, but doesnt give you a free pass. Sorry.
File mail fraud charges.
Wanted to point out a few more things...
He was suppose to send on the 24th of March and his claims his stuff was stolen on the 28th
When I mentioned to him about him not responding to my text he claimed his phone was dead for a week...it was iMessage and it showed he read every message I sent within 5 mins
If he wasn't so full of lies...I might actually believe him about them being stolen and while I would still want something for my cards I would be a little less urgent about getting them
I'm a very reasonable guy and fairly patient...but I don't take well to being taken advantage of... He has until Wednesday morning next week to get me a tracking number...if I don't have it I'm filing charges
Honestly, I think we have enough to end this case. This isn't his first offense, he seems like he has no remorse and he "can't get on to his account". This seems pretty simple to me...

He's kinda for freaking out about the 1 day limit. I suggested that he go to his parents , admit he messed up and borrow some money then pay them back latter or work it off but he said he can't. No explanation. As far as I can see the only way to make things right is to communicate with Respawned. Everything I have read suggests that Respawned is very patient and communication goes a long way with trades like this.

Solution
Do you still have your deck?
Good, work out a payment plan no the form of a number of packs that you win at fnm each week.
Will it take a while? Yes
Does it require money? No
Will he accept sealed packs of his choosing (within reason of availability)? Ask him
Will you need to do well at fnm? Yes (but you were planning on it anyway)
Makes everyone happy? Who the hell knows, talk about it
He sent me a text asking if I saw your proposed plan...to make a long story short...I agreed to have him send me one card worth $20 or 2 worth $10 each for the first payment to show he's serious and we'd discuss further payments once that happened. I also pushed the deadline back to April 14th.
I felt I was being generous...how does he respond? By calling me a dick and told me threatening and harassing him wasn't helping but he'd try...what kind of person am I dealing with?
Quote from: Taysby on April 03, 2014, 03:18:20 PM
one that you should file for mail fraud. He did this same thing to me, and i gave him a bye because sometimes things happen. I'd call this a blatant attempt at a scam.
I feel that I should go ahead and file but I'm a man of my word so I'm going to stick by the deal I gave him...but I can promise there'll be no more leniency from me if all he is gonna do is respond with rudeness
He's clearly a douche nozzle. File mail fraud charges and ufck his life up.
He needs to be taught that ripping people off has consequences.
Ok he agreed to get banne and whatever else, so that must be done. Now before you ruin this mans life, look at what youll gain. WILL you win if you charge him with this? Is there a very good chance you get stuff out of it, equal or close to what youve lost? Also, is he really in some nuclear program? If you dont have a 100% solid case(you should research mail fraud charges or talk to an expert assumig you dont have fairly extensive knowledge yourself) then id honestly drop it because you cant fight every losing battle. That being said, im not advising you against charges, im just suggesting you do your fair share of research before you supposedly 'ruin his life' without getting anything out of it. Also to reiterate, im hoping hes already been banned.
All he needs is him saying he got his cards that is theft you will have a case either way bro I say if you have to go for it can't let people walk all over us or others will see and take that as an ok to rip you off
Is slenderbro going to comment on this??
Hes off the forum if you read through some of the posts, he claims he cant log in and asked we simply ban him according to someone who is supposedly a friend of his
Then how is banning him punishment?
He doesnt get punished unless the victim wins the mail fraud suit. If unsuccessful he gets off scotch free, such is life.
You need to file charges. If he's lied about sending these cards, and lied about everything else, why would he tell the truth about the military?
He's full of .poo..
A couple of days ago, slenderbro text me with an offer to settle the entire thing...I accepted so long as I receive them...he sent a pic last night of the main two of three cards he is going to send to let me know he does actually have them...wasn't gonna post here until I actually received, but since people are still commenting I thought everyone should know what he has done and says he is going to do...I'll keep everyone informed as to when I receive (optimistically) so we can close this and move on
Hope you get them I'm sure he will do the right thing.
And if he doesn't he gets the BOOM lol jk

Make sure he doesn't go to FNM before mailing them.
I recall we had an issue with Slenderbro in the past as well.
He owes me my cards too!! I will start my trial separately but this is ridiculous. I'm pressing charges if he doesn't sent my stuff....so if someone can talk with him, he better know to send me my cards back or 115% of the full value, because I took extra time and money to send it.

Same thing here, the worst part is that he offered to do middle man services, and I figured that he would be trustable.
I spent 8 years active duty in the military. I don't want someone that is willing to lie cheat and steal stuff to serve along side brothers and sisters that I know are truthful and honest. No way I'm not filing charges against him.

When did the trade take place?
Quote from: Jlamb5 on April 07, 2014, 09:36:10 PM
I was involved in a trade with slenderbro. The trade details were as follows-
My
{vendilion clique}
{vedalken shackles}
Zendikar lands (I believe 3-4)
His
{sacred foundry}
{plateau}
The trade was agreed upon and I sent my end out. Initially when we started negotiating he details of the trade he said to run a middle man trade because he didn't think I had enough traders (understandable). I explained to him that I didn't want to deal with that because IMO it's extra time/work to deal with it. After that we agreed to the trade. I sent him my address, he sent me his. I sent my end out with tracking and initially he said that the tracking number wasn't working. I verified the number and resent it to him to ensure that it was correct. It was. A few days later he sent a message to me stating that he had received mine as a return to sender package and he asked for my information again. I guess at the time of the message I was busy and hadn't responded. On April 2nd, I checked the messages and the dates and then realized he had sent that. So I resent the address and told him I understood if something came up. I never heard anything back. I message him again yesterday and still have not heard anything from him.

I'm so livid about this! It's my second trade over $70 and both times I got screwed. The first one was the post office's fault, but this one makes me not want to trade at all. A {vendilion clique}?!?!?!?! This guy knew exactly what he was doing when the trades took places, especially cause this is the second one. I'm hoping that he has a response within the next 24 hours cause I'm gonna figure out where he's recruiting through for his supposed nuclear tech job and call them and let them know what's going on.
I received today from slenderbro what I agreed upon to settle this so I'm dropping it...up to the mods where to take it from here :)
Yay! Glad you got your cards amigo.
