There are a few Legacy and Vintage decks that play them.

My Legacy Affinity is kind of an odd-ball, as it plays Esper colors to play Stoneforge Mystic and Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas.  In that context, Tezzeret basically functions as a repeatable Hive Stirrings, as well as a super efficient win-con with his Ultimate.

Both Modern and Legacy has decks based around Tezzeret, though I haven't really explored them much.  The Legacy version runs Baleful Strix as it's only creatures, as well as the Sword of the Meek/Thopter Foundry combo, I know that much.

In Vintage, Tezzeret, the Seeker, is often used in conjunction with Time Vault, since he can tutor for it with ease, and works as a second Voltaic Key when taking unlimited turns.

Ah, i never explore those formats so that explains much. Does he ever see modern play, and is he viable in that format? Or is her too slow? I prefer agent of bolas but either would make me a happy man

Turn 3 Agent is totally feasible in Modern, I would think.  He might be a little too slow overall.  I know Modern Affinity doesn't want to play it at all, since they want you to be dead by the time they could cast it.  I can try looking up some lists when I find the time.  Tezzeret is a cool guy with some awesome applications.

Well, after a quick dig, I was able to find this Tezzerator list over on MTGSalv (http://www.mtgsalvation.com/forums/the-game/modern/modern-deck-creation/221761-tezzerator). It basically functions as a toolbox deck, using Trinket Mage and Tezzeret to find any sort of utility artifact it needs.

So can you explain what a toolbox deck is real quick :p ive been seein it thrown around and it sounds like what you described, you use cards to kind of pick and choose what you need, like pod decks.. Amiright?

Sure.  Toolbox decks are usually a form of Control or Midrange.  Instead of running 3- or 4- of a bunch of key cards in the deck, they instead run 1- or sometimes 2-of cards that are effective against certain strategies all at once.  The deck then runs ways of finding the specific cards they need to win a match-up, like finding the right tools in a tool box.  It gives much better coverage against a wider range of decks for game 1, and the deck can be focused down to hate out whatever your opponent is playing, post-board.

For instance, with the Tezzerator deck linked above, it's able to run three powerful silver bullet artifacts main board: Torpor Orb, Grafdigger's Cage and Trinisphere.  Each of these cards are usually brought in as sideboard tech against Creature Value decks (Ones that rely on ETBs, like Pod or Twin), Pod/Reanimator and Storm, respectively.  But because this deck is based around Tezzeret, the Seeker, Trinket Mage and Thirst for Knowledge, which can dig out these artifacts from the deck, it's able to play all three in the initial 60 and find them when needed.

He is used in tezzeret control in modern, I don't know what the list is, but as far as I know it's a lot of counters and tutoring for artifacts.
