8/9 for {1}{G} is sick though. But yes, 8/9

but why does he cost so much if a 10 cent card can just kill him??
Title: Re: Tarmogoyf
Post by: DylanW18 on March 28, 2014, 02:31:42 AM
A 10 cent card can kill almost anything, so that's not a fair comparison

8/9 max, never that big if dropping on T2, it that you can drop him T2 and he gets big by T3-5 that makes so dangerous

He usually drops as a 1/2 - 3/4

I'm now trying to figure out a way to make him an 8/9 in time lol I think it's possible. An insane combo, but possible

HIGHJACK THREAD HERE: Llama, have you got my new Planeswalker ready? ;)

Ibtrickey, the thing is, removal removes anything. That's why it's there. In the format where Goyf is played, he is a usual t2 4/5... That's insane. I disagree on the price, he is only worth $30 at most, but hey, others think he is worth more

Because not everybody has removal all the time, and not unlimited removal. If they remove goyf, they cant remove something possibly much more dangerous turn 3, if they cant remove goyf you put your opponent on a very short clock for a ridiculous small price. Hes simply too much value for too little mana, no other card comes close. Think of every 2 drop ever, no matter how good it likely dies to removal, yet they dont all cost the same amount. Its just the amount of threat for 2 mana cant be matched, hes worth however much people are willing to pay, which is indefinite since hes the best at what he does. He could go up to $300 and if thats what everyone sold him as hed still sell. Sorry i know its resolved i just figured an indepth love letter to goyfy-poo was in order.

Dredge + tarm = fat tarm fast

The measure of a card's worth is determined not by what can remove it, but by how necesary it is to remove. Goyf is a serious threat, it doesn't matter that it dies to removal.

Emrakul dies to 15 squirrel tokens
Why is emrakul so valuable?

Good point
Title: Re: Tarmogoyf
Post by: MisterJH on March 28, 2014, 11:11:08 PM
The better question is why dont more people use squirrel tokens then...?

15 squirrel tokens cost much more than emrakul (if you're gonna go for squirrels, you need the tokens)

No, squirrel>emrakul
