Title: Hexproof an Deathtouch
Post by: IntoFire on March 27, 2014, 06:14:17 AM
Will deathtouch affect a creature with hexproof?

Example:
{Thornweald Archer} blocking {Wichstalker}.

Please help.

Specifically, hexproof only says it can't be the TARGET of spells or abilities opponents control. Targeting has to say target or it's not targeting. Deathtouch never says target, just how an overloaded {Mizzium Mortars} doesn't target.

More specifically, deathtouch just changes the result of damage.  When State-based actions are checked, the game asks "Has this creature received lethal damage?".  Deathtouch will say "Any damage this creature deals is lethal!".  The game sees Lethal Damage marked and destroys the creature.
