Would {Mercy Killing} make my opponent gain any tokens if I used it on a {Primordial Hydra}?
Thanks.
Whatever the current power is on the hydra would be the amount of tokens granted. So yes it would
I use mercy killing in a couple of decks to either use on my creatures or opponents. When it comes to a {primordial hydra} best combo I can think of to get rid of it using {mercy killing} and not give alot of tokens is to combo it with {snake form}.
{turn to frog} ftw :)
{Act of treason} then mercy killings. Noe you get the tokens
Thanks everyone. I was wondering because I wasn't sure if counters effected the innitial power (0). *sigh* I love mercy killing...
{act of treason} is definately a better choice but I was staying with similar colors.

HA! Right on!
Erm, you don't want to be playing {Turn to Frog} on your opponent's {Primal Hydra}. It will just make it a 1/1 with a whole bunch of +1/+1 counters. {Turn to Frog} wont remove any counters already on it.
Edit: Same goes for {Snakeform}, in case you were wondering.
Why is thAt? Because counters would be seperate and just tack onto the new form?

Exactly.
The hydra is X/X with the +1/+1 counters being X.
Turning it into either a frog or a snake would make it a 1/1.
The counters still exist, and now since the hydra is a 1/1, it now has power and toughness equal to the +1/+1 counters plus the base 1/1.
E.g.
10/10 hydra.
Turn frog/snake
11/11 hydra until effect wears off.
Thought the timestamp effect made it lose the benefits of the +1+1 counters?

The counters are not affected by timestamp, they are always in effect unless removed. The Hydra will lose its other abilities though.
